55 Panels, each 300 x 84cm
An ongoing text-based, visual inventory listing the names of people I have spoken to, over a 50 year period. Names appear, re appear and disappear across the annual vertical panels to form an expanding and contracting graph of participants and reflecting on the cyclical and unfurling nature of life.
This inventory emphasizes neither the heroic nor the spectacular but rather everyday interactions with casual acquaintances, colleagues, friends, social encounters and continuous relationships, that constitute one’s life even though these exchanges are transitory.
One's thinking and understanding of the world and reality are the result of a myriad of human interactions. Collectively these conversations and exchanges from infancy to adulthood form whom one was, who one is, and who one becomes.
